Provider FAQ’s

What is the ADIPOSET® System?
The ADIPOSET System is the technology that allows for the long-term storage of fat through cryopreservation. Fat is harvested by the surgeon, placed in the ADIPOSET transport system, and shipped to our facility for preparation for cryopreservation. The processed fat is then held for future use. Once the fat is requested in our online portal (or a call to our facility), the fat is sent back to the surgeon for grafting.

The ADIPOSET System is the backbone of our three products: Regenerys mL, Regenerys XL, and Lipostor. The Regenerys mL is used for smaller volume applications such as the face or hands whereas the Regenerys XL is for larger volume applications like the breast, buttocks, chest, etc.. We designed Lipostor for people who want to bank their fat for longer-term storage. Typical uses of Lipostor are to bank a patient’s younger fat for use when they are older or to hold stem cells for the possibility of a change in policy on the usage of autologous stem cells.
What are the key advantages of the ADIPOSET® System compared to traditional fat grafting techniques?
The primary advantage of the ADIPOSET® System is its ability to undock the fat grafting procedure from the fat harvest, enabling subsequent rounds of grafting to be performed easily in a clinic rather than an operating room setting. This feature offers reduced anesthetic risk and greater flexibility, comfort, and convenience for patients and surgeons, while also providing significant cost savings.

Additionally, the system enhances fat viability and longevity through sterile, closed-loop processing that reduces the risk of contamination. It optimizes processing and preservation techniques to ensure standardized, high-quality fat grafts with preserved regenerative potential.

The system’s fat banking capabilities facilitate staged procedures without the need for repeated harvesting, making it a cost-effective and efficient solution for long-term treatment planning.
How can the ADIPOSET® System provide valuable insights to further refine and enhance my current fat grafting technique?
Let’s make patients better together- help us help you! The ADIPOSET® System includes comprehensive assays (Viability, pH, LDH, OCR, etc.) that provide actionable data to help you refine your existing fat grafting technique.

Each sample is comprehensively tested upon delivery to our facility, providing valuable feedback and insights that allow for fine-tuning variables in the harvest technique. This process ensures a consistent and optimized approach to fat grafting, helping to improve procedural efficiency and ultimately leading to better patient outcomes.
What is the Viability of banked fat? For how long?
We designed the ADIPOSET® System to maintain high viability of banked fat, ensuring its effectiveness for future therapeutic applications. The system has demonstrated over 90% viability with storage out to 8 years and counting, underscoring its reliability and long-term potential.

Studies have shown that adipose tissue can retain significant cell viability over extended periods with proper cryopreservation techniques. Research indicates that certain cryopreservation methods can effectively preserve the functionality and viability of fat cells and regenerative cells within adipose tissue.providing valuable feedback and insights that allow for fine-tuning variables in the harvest technique. This process ensures a consistent and optimized approach to fat grafting, helping to improve procedural efficiency and ultimately leading to better patient outcomes.

It’s important to note that intrinsic factors such as the patient’s age, body mass index, and health status can influence the viability of harvested adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs). Specimens received with less than 65% initial viability are not acceptable for cryopreservation.
Is ADIPOSET® approved by the FDA?

The ADIPOSET® System by Tissue & Cell Technologies is currently designed to comply with regulatory requirements in the regions where it is offered. In the United States, the system is subject to FDA regulations, and its use falls within the scope of autologous human tissue applications that meet FDA guidelines for minimal manipulation.

How long has ADIPOSET® technology been available, and how many patients have been treated?

Tissue & Cell Technologies has been developing the ADIPOSET® fat banking solution for over a decade. Over 1,200 patients have been safely and successfully treated with the ADIPOSET System in Europe, demonstrating its growing adoption and effectiveness in the field of regenerative medicine. This extensive global experience underscores the system’s reliability and potential for broader application as technology and regulations continue to evolve.

Do you do stem cell replication?
We do not currently perform stem cell replication or clonal expansion, as these processes are classified by the FDA as more than ‘minimal manipulation’ and are subject to strict regulatory oversight under HCT/P guidelines. Our focus remains on utilizing autologous stem cells in compliance with current FDA guidelines to ensure patient safety and adherence to regulatory standards.

However, we are actively investigating these capabilities for the future in our European division, where regulatory frameworks offer a more progressive environment for advanced stem cell therapies. This strategic initiative allows us to stay at the forefront of regenerative medicine and prepare for potential regulatory changes in the U.S. as the landscape evolves. We would be happy to provide further information if you have any questions about our ongoing efforts and compliance.
What are future applications for banked fat?

One of the most exciting advancements in fat banking is the ability to preserve youthful cells in a state of suspended animation for future therapeutic applications. Adipose tissue is a rich reservoir of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) and mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), making it an invaluable resource as advancements in technology and evolving regulatory frameworks continue to expand the potential of regenerative medicine. The ability to utilize a patient’s younger cells later in life holds significant promise for enhanced regenerative treatments and personalized medical interventions. This approach not only leverages the biological advantages of youthful tissue but also presents the potential to treat serious diseases with cells that predate the onset of illness, offering a proactive approach to long-term health and wellness.
