Cosmetic Fillers

Cosmetic treatments are a desirable and useful part of our modern medical toolkit

How you look and feel reflects who you are, whether you want subtle changes or to rejuvenate and slow the effects of ageing.

And with the recent explosion in cosmetic and aesthetic procedures and products, it is now easier than ever to get the results you want. However, many of the products you are contemplating injecting into your skin are artificial, unnatural and their actual composition and long-term effects are still largely unknown.

An ‘all natural’ and highly personalised alternative to facial fillers for cosmetic treatments

Our unique “Regenerys” range of products are custom produced using a sample of the patient’s own adipose (fat) taken using a minor liposuction. Advanced reconstructive and cosmetic clinicians are finding the combination of ‘patient’s own’ together with the resulting purification process based on T&CT’s proprietary advanced technology in tissue handling, increases the concentration of Stem Cells and regenerative growth factors. No other filler product has the combination of being ‘totally natural’ and having the high potential for regenerative response in cosmetic applications.

The products can be ‘tuned’ specifically to the patient’s specific needs: more ‘filler-like’ qualities, or more regenerative factors for ‘toning’ and improving skin appearance and performance. Some parts of the face require more solid filler, some parts require a softer, more delicate profile and each can be ‘tuned’ to treat associated skin condition and reflex, according to the clinician’s suggestion.

Why now?

Too many artificial and potentially long-term harmful products are currently being used in the cosmetic enhancement industry. While some still have their place in some treatments, there are numerous problems, at T&CT believe they will now be on a decline in the longterm as the benefits of custom engineered ‘autologous’ tissue products over artificial products, start to develop and the market grows.

T&CT’s extensive technical experience in advanced tissue and cell-based products (and exceptional regulatory record), stretching back to 2004 with first the U.K.’s main autologous skin-cell emergency repair product for extreme burns, as well as the U.K’s first – and still only – large-volume filler product for breast reconstruction procedures, means that we are uniquely positioned to develop and release this new range of aesthetic and regenerative products.

Existing products and treatments are short term solutions

Botox

While generally considered ‘safe’, botox is temporary, requiring re-injections every few months. And the boost from the treatment may fade gradually over time, with desensitisation. Associated side-effects include, Muscle weakness, Vision problems, Trouble speaking or swallowing, Breathing & respiratory problems, Loss of bladder control. The risks are significantly worse if the patient does not go to a medically qualified clinician.

Facelifts

are serious surgical procedures and involve the risk of serious potential side-effects and complications. Haematoma, scarring, nerve injury and desensitisation, hair loss, and skin loss are all potential side effects. And they are heavily influenced by patient’s existing medical condition, medication, smoking, fitness, etc.

Fillers

Including Hyaluronic Acid, Calcium hydroxylapatite, Polyalkylimide, Polylactic acid, Polymethyl-methacrylate microspheres (PMMA), etc. Associated side-effects include, Allergic reaction at the injection site or throughout the body, Bleeding or bruising at the injection site, Infection, Irregularities in the surface, contours and firmness of the skin, Rarely, damage to blood vessels. Long-term damage is now also being discovered as plastic surgeons are increasingly spending more of their time on fixes and reconstructive surgery to correct years of filler procedures – in most cases the original filler used, where used and composition of the product are no longer know. The risks from over-use and misuse of fillers is increasingly significantly.

Lipo-modelling & fat transfers

The technology is still relatively young, but the most prevalent technique involves in-theatre, same-time processing of fat samples taken from lipo. The processing includes mechanical filtration and chemical separation, with the overall effect that the tissue and cells can be damaged the resulting sample being compromised, plus viability and bio burden (contamination) are unknown and not analysed. As a result, the long-term consequences are that the reinjected tissue can be reabsorbed by the body, moves around, causes cysts, etc. There is no current technology that allows same-day fat processing taken from a lipo that does not cause substantial damage to the precious cells and tissue.

T&CT’s Regenerys line of products requires a trip to the T&CT laboratory where the aspirated fat sample can be properly and carefully handled to separate the unwanted tissue and fluid from the sample, maintaining overall cell viability up to 90-95% in most cases. While the procedure needs to be split into a ‘harvest’, and a reinjection procedure, the benefits are obvious.

And sometimes frequently performed by inexperienced and improperly qualified cosmeticians and staff

One of the biggest problem associated with cosmetic procedures is the use of inexperienced or improperly qualified clinicians, particularly with so-called medical tourism. Regulation varies around the world: in some case no minimum qualification is required for injections, whereas in some countries, only medically qualified clinicians can administer any product at all. Always consult a qualified and experienced clinician, no matter how risk-free you think the procedure seems.

Leading to long-term problems requiring revision surgery or rectification, an ever growing concern.

Considerable evidence and reports are now showing a strong increase over time of the rise in revision and correction procedures for ‘botched’ cosmetic procedures, and long-term side-effects. Sagging, poorly executed lip fillers, swelling, lumpiness, scarring, correction of exaggerated effects, revision facelifts, revision filler corrections, revision blepharoplasty.

Problems inherent in both approaches can lead to problems years, and decades down the road

It may not be something you thought about initially. It can certainly become a problem later.
Why put unknowns, the effects of which over 2-3 decades have not been observed or tested, into your body – and especially into your face.
